What to Expect From Pro Tree Service Worcester

Pro Tree Service Worcester takes down, prunes and grinds out trees for homeowners in Worcester and the towns around it, from the triple-decker streets of Vernon Hill and Main South to the larger lots near Lake Quinsigamond, Tatnuck and the Holden line.

Worcester is a hard city to work in, and we plan for that. Lots are narrow, houses are close together, many backyards sit above or below the street behind a retaining wall, and overhead wires run along nearly every block. A large maple behind a three-family house often cannot be felled at all; it comes down in pieces, lowered on ropes, and every piece has to be carried out past porches, fences and parked cars. The visit is where we work out how that will happen.

At the visit we look at the tree first: species, lean, dead wood, cracks, cavities, fungus at the root flare, and any signs of the insects and diseases that matter here, including Asian longhorned beetle on maples, emerald ash borer on ash, and beech leaf disease. Then we look at what is around it: the roof, the porches, the neighbor's yard, the service wire to the house, the driveway, and whether the ground is ledge, fill or soft lawn.

We also check whose tree it is. The City of Worcester generally owns and maintains the trees along the sidewalk, and its Public Tree Protection Ordinance requires the tree warden's written approval before a public shade tree is cut, trimmed or removed. If a tree looks like a city tree, we tell you before we price anything and point you to the city's Forestry line so you can confirm.

All of Worcester is still inside the Asian longhorned beetle regulated area, so what happens to the wood matters more here than in most places. Your quote spells out whether logs stay on the property, how brush is chipped, and where any material that leaves your yard goes.

What you can expect

  • A written quote with each tree, the work, the cleanup and the price on separate lines.
  • No cutting until you approve the quote, and no added work without your written OK.
  • Limbs lowered on ropes where they cannot be dropped safely.
  • Wires near the work flagged early, so National Grid can be called if it needs to sleeve or disconnect a line.
  • Stumps priced separately so you can decide.
  • Wood left in rounds, cut to firewood length or removed, as you choose.
