West Boylston Trees, Wood and Brush
Tree Service in West Boylston comes with two local constraints. The whole town remains inside the Asian longhorned beetle regulated area, according to the state's September 2026 update, so host wood stays inside the zone. And the town's yard waste site takes brush, but only under 6 inches in diameter, with no stumps and no commercial loads. Most removals here end with the brush chipped on site, the larger wood cut for the owner or hauled within the zone, and the stump ground.
The yard waste site
The Yard Waste Recycling Facility on Laurel Street is open on scheduled Fridays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon, from late April to late November. It accepts leaves, grass, and brush and branches under 6 inches thick, for West Boylston residents only. It does not take tree stumps of any size, fence posts, lumber or commercial yard waste. If you do some of the cleanup yourself, that schedule matters; if you'd rather not, we can include haul-away in the estimate.
A town shaped by the Wachusett Reservoir
West Boylston gave up more land to the Wachusett Reservoir than any other town, about 2,200 acres. More than 1,700 residents, 300 homes, eight schools and six mills were moved when the reservoir was built. It filled for the first time in May 1908. The Old Stone Church still stands on the shore. Today, many homes back onto watershed woods, and Oakdale sits across the water along Route 140. Trees at the edge of those woods grow toward the light over yards and driveways, and that is where many of our calls come from.
An older population
About 25.8% of West Boylston residents are 65 or older, one of the higher shares in the area. Climbing ladders and running saws is no longer worth the risk for many people, and we often handle a combination of small jobs in one visit: a limb over the garage, a dead ash at the back of the lot, and a few stumps.
State forestry next door
The state's Forest Health specialist for the Department of Conservation and Recreation works out of 184 West Boylston Street in West Boylston. If you find signs of an invasive pest, the state hotline is 1-866-702-9938, and the state forest health office is another resource.

West Boylston Questions
Will the town take my stump?
No. The Laurel Street site does not take tree stumps of any size. Grinding the stump in place is the usual solution, and the grindings can be used as mulch or removed.
Can I bring a whole tree's worth of branches to the yard waste site?
Residents can bring branches under 6 inches thick on scheduled days. Larger wood is not accepted. Because the town is in the beetle zone, host wood should not be taken out of the regulated area.
My yard backs up to watershed woods. Who handles the trees there?
Trees on the other side of the property line belong to the landowner, not you. If one threatens your house, contact the owner. We can assess the trees on your side and tell you which present a risk.
Is the Wachusett Reservoir land off limits for cutting?
Much of the land around the reservoir is protected watershed property, and you cannot cut trees on land you do not own. If a tree on that land threatens your home, contact the landowner. We can only work on trees on your side of the line.
Do you take down trees near the Oakdale side?
Yes. We work throughout West Boylston, including Oakdale and the roads near the reservoir.
